February marked our first anniversary as co-creators of this here space, The Landline. In lieu of a candle lit dinner and flowers, we took the opportunity to reflect on our time together as creative partners.
We exchanged a few voice notes between school pick-ups and family dinners, about what we’ve enjoyed creating the most, and why this particular kind of friendship—one where supporting each other’s creativity and ideas through partnership—is the stuff of dreams. We love this for us, and we want it for everyone.
Here are our core tenets for navigating creative partnership with friends.
Creative Trust
We don’t question each other’s creative skillsets because we know they’re great. Tiff is a fantastic visual thinker, Ashley is a smart editor—together we’re unstoppable (unless we need a nap).
Emotional Honesty
We lead with our personhood, no matter what. We do the work we love but never at the expense of our sanity. This is always a safe space where care comes first.
Friendship-Forward Partnership
We matter more than the work. At the start of this creative partnership we decided our friendship mattered more than the product. This informs how we approach deadlines, strategy, and literally everything.
