Welcome.
We’re Ashley and Tiffany—two writers and friends who built this space from a shared belief in the power of storytelling. Over the past 10 years, we’ve forged a creative relationship rooted in community, connection, and honoring stories that transcend brand positioning. The Landline is our way of preserving and amplifying the voices that tether us to where we’ve been and inspire us to imagine where we can go.
Stay for a story, or become part of our tribe—however you engage, we’re so glad you’re here.
Why “The Landline”?
The landline was more than a phone; it was a lifeline. For Millennials, it tethered us to home, connected us across generations, and created a sense of community. It’s where we whispered secrets to friends, shared updates with cousins, and caught up with grandmothers. It grounded us, comforted us, and linked us to the outside world.
The Landline symbolizes exactly what this era of life feels like—anchored in the wisdom of our past while stretching toward new ways of connection. We center the voices and experiences of those in their mid-30s to mid-40s, who stand at a crossroads between raising the next generation and learning from the one before. Here, we honor the lessons of our mothers and grandmothers, stay open to the brilliance of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, and carry forward the stories of ancestors known and unknown.
This space is about connection—within and beyond ourselves. Just like that old landline phone, it’s here to remind us where we come from and inspire us to imagine what’s next.

What to Know Before Submitting:
Who We Publish: The Landline centers the voices of Black, brown, and Indigenous women and femmes. However, we welcome all stories that thoughtfully intersect with themes of motherhood, womanhood, sisterhood, and aging
Editorial Process: Your micro-essays won’t just be published—they’ll be honed. We’re two seasoned editors who will mindfully and gently help refine your work as needed.
Photo Essays: Send us 1–5 images accompanied by a short paragraph explaining the purpose of the work and its connection to the theme.
Poetry should be no longer than one page and include a short paragraph about the work and how it connects with the theme.
All submissions should be sent via Google Doc to our submission form.
