I had to stop myself from basically copying and pasting huge paragraphs of your essay into the comments section and just saying “this” or “bars.” Suffice it to say that I’ve missed your words and value your perspective because it expands my very black and white worldview (e.g. I’m a failure because I might not be able to have biological children).
I think the space you and Morgan are creating will be the community that you need now and needed 10 years ago, that your mom needed 30 years ago, and that your grandma needed 50 years ago. I’m so happy you’re co-creating that space for us.
Alright, alright. I couldn’t help myself:
“And because I chose not to lose sight of my value, I had to devalue some of what I was taught about families.”
Love these lines right here “I tend to write the things I needed to read a decade ago, that my mother needed to read thirty years ago, that my grandmother needed to read fifty years ago. And the community I have found through this work has nurtured me in ways I can never pay back, but I can pay forward.” This work is so important. Thank you.
